Bermudez's long awaited call from the UFC is still hanging in the balance of WTF. It's been argued that it should've came after his decision over Saul "The Spider" Almeida @CES 39 which also saw local fighter Mike Rodriguez lose against Kevin Haley in a first round ankle lock. Rodriguez just got a shot on UFC's Contender Series where he would deliver arguably the best knockout the series has seen. So why hasn't Bermudez gotten his shot yet?
The UFC's 135 pound division is definitely stacked with seriously tough fighters with Cody "No Love" Gabrandt holding the reigns and stands at 11-0-0. Of course no one is arguing that but that isn't an argument to not let this talented fighter come into his own at the elite level. Local 135'er Rob Font saw a 9 fight win streak before his UFC debut and now Bermudez just secured his 10th win at the Cage Titans 35 headline in the first round against a seasoned veteran in Bendy Casimir, a black belt that he submitted with a tight triangle after almost knocking him out with a straight right.
Dana White has been promoting this Contender Series as "something that's never been done before;" traveling all over the world to find up and coming fighters. So if that's the case then they totally dropped the ball in case of #1 ranked in New England #5 in the country Manny Bermudez. At this point it's time to forgo the Contender spot and just give the kid a contract.
